Terra Mare is the newest addition to the A&H Group of restaurants, focussed on presenting the best in modern, authentic Italian cuisine, alongside an industry leading customer experience. To coincide with the launch, Toward were tasked with creating a brand with a story.

Toward captured the essence of Terra Mare’s food, culture, and story, turning it into a visual identity that resonates with our influences of the Puglia region.

Telling the story of Puglia
Terra Mare is a unique high-end Italian restaurant experience — with modern takes on authentic dishes, served on small plates, using local ingredients, delivered with a warm welcome. The food is heavily inspired by the traditional dishes of the Puglia region of Italy, home of the head chef Francesco Germinario. We wanted to reference a link to this origin within the brand, that invites questions and enables the staff to engage guests in the story of the restaurant.
Following a period of research and development, we created a logo with its roots in Puglia history — inspired by traditional floral ceramic tiles and the breathtaking architectural design of one of the regions most distinctive landmarks, the Castel del Monte.
This inspiration resulted in a logo mark that utilises the castle's distinctive octagonal shape and the design of its arches combined with a floral pattern.
Designing every touchpoint
Alongside the logo mark we developed a typographic style that is simple and elegant, including a mono font used for body copy which gives the feeling of a personal touch. The colour palette is inspired by the natural, rich, early tones of fresh authentic ingredients, contrasted with more subtle tones.
The design system was rolled out across numerous customer touch points, including menus, printed materials, signage, internal branding and social channels. We also developed the website as a key way to showcase menus, tell the brand story and to take reservations.
It's not just about a logo or colour scheme — Toward helped create an experience that starts before guests even walk through our doors.
