Better late than never they say. That's good, because I'm really late introducing Luke Davies our newest member of the design team. So late in fact that he's not even the newbie anymore!
Back in October last year we felt like we needed an extra pair of hands on the design team and started the search for someone great to be our junior designer. Straight away, I remembered back to a CV I'd had from a 3rd year Swansea Met student a year or so earlier. I had a dig and found it. “Yep” I thought, this is our guy.
His work spoke for itself—easily better than most student work you see and on-par with many seasoned designers. His whole approach was good too. Personal, friendly, polite and professional. He'd written eloquently asking for feedback on his work. All good signs!
So, after a few chats and emails I was delighted to offer Luke the job. He joined the team in November last year and has already proved himself to be a great asset, playing a key role in winning a brilliant branding project and working with many of our clients.
Luke has a love for white space, clean design, typography and layout which compliments our skills really well. He's happy working on branding, print and web design, so is a real allrounder.
From the few months we spent with Luke we learned a few things:
- He doesn't really like any type of TV, film or music. Except Big Brother.
- He lived in a hotel for 3 months whilst on a previous placement. Like a designer Alan Partridge.
- His favourite food is pizza. Pepperoni.
- He's from Carmarthen and is a Welsh speaker. Handy.
- He only drinks peach flavoured water. Fizzy.
We're really chuffed to have Luke on board and can't wait to see what he comes up with. You can say hello on Twitter or at luke@toward.studio
